Hey guys, I am currently a level 16 Orc warrior following Joan'as guide with Alchemy and Herbalism. I have a few questions regarding proffesions.

1. Do I need to get addons or really pay attention for my proffesions to get any sort of money?
2. How much of a big deal are they in vanilla?
3. Which ones are the best and which ones suit a warrior?
4. Should i keep my mats or sell them?

Thanks

90% of blacksmithing patterns are boe (so most items you can buy that are crafted minus a select few, so if you want those, go blacksmithing). If you want to make bags, go TL, other than that, not much money in tailoring for a warrior.

You will need flasks and health pots, so for a leveling standpoint, you can do herb/alch and make money end game whilst making leveling a little easier with the "free" pots you'd make. (free signifying you either buying the mats or farming them yourself).

Engineering has no monetary gain except for end game when you can make bullets for hunters (they can turn in thorium bullets for arrows at some point, forgot when that was im-plemented) and the MC gun and shield, but those aren't BiS iirc, just fun weapons. Scopes for hunters as well, but as I said, you'd burn a hole in your pocket before seeing any money worthwhile in engineering. Do you want to make your own armor/weapons or do you want to make your own potions or bags? that is the real question.

Alchemy also has the arcanite xmute cooldown and tailoring has the mooncloth CD. ENG makes the salt shakers for leatherworkers.

Each has their ups and downs. Pick what you want.

1. Addons are great but not required for leveling or getting gold. A gathering profession like herbalism will give you some extra gold, but the crafting professions are usually pretty big gold sinks.

2. Addons are a pretty big deal, since the default options for vanilla are so limited addons can really help you out. A bunch of them are required for raiding as well. Professions are like an optional thing that can really help you, or just be fun really.

3. I'm guessing you're refering to just professions here, but it's not a huge deal. If you're into PVP engineering is an absolute must but that's about it.

4. Depends on whether you want to make gold or skill up your profession mate.

Engineering is the best profession in the game. It's mandatory for PVP minmaxing, and it even lets you wear +resist items for AQ/Naxx.

As a new player and a class that can't heal, its highly recommend that you level First Aid, free healing for all those extra cloth you pick up, Heavy Mageweave Bandages are very useful at 60. I see First Aid doesn't get mentioned as much as it should, its incredibly useful for honestly all classes, but most for classes with no built in healing. And it doesn't take a real profession slot.

Alch / Herb is a very good combo for a first character. Mid level herbs sell on the AH for a good amount.

The stat potions you get from alch will make up for the lack of gear you have since you can't buy BoEs due to being broke.

Fishing helps level alch and cooking. The spirit/stam buffs from cooking = less down time while leveling. Though fishing levels very slow after lvl 150, you should be able to catch most of the things you need at that level.
