Felwood

by Kaskadis » Wed Mar 16, 2016 12:37 pm

Hi everyone,

Just a qeustion for the GM's re felwood. Before I ask just want to say thanks to all the GMs for doing such a good job on this project.

This is the first time I have been on the forums, I had a read of a few posts then saw something re felwood.

"Varth is correct - countdown clicking is a clear sign that the players were aware that this was an exploit. The item in question was meant to give a buff to a single person. Abusing lag to gain that buff for multiple characters at the same time is exploiting.

The GM team."

I was not under the impression that getting the buff in felwood was an exploit. I have only done so one time, under the instruction of multiple people on the server.

If it is an exploit, that's fine. But I would just like to say, from the quote above, countdown clicking is not a "clear sign" players know anything. How can you assume someone knows they are exploiting a server for clicking an item before it despawns.

The item takes 3 seconds to despawn, you dont have to "abuse lag" to synchronize a group of people right clicking with 3 full seconds of each other.

I have never intentionally abused game mechanics in any game I have ever played, I didnt even use cheat codes from the age of 10+ as it felt like it ruined the game. So having someone in a GM position say I know I was abusing a mechanic as I right clicked at the same time of other people is not only false, its presuming and down right rude.

I will no longer be getting sunflower after reading the forums, but Pottu, please don't assume just because someone right clicks an object in game, they are "aware" they are abusing a mechanic. Most people learn of these buffs through guildies and not via yourselves.

There are no warning messages when you log in about how sunflower is meant to be usable by one person, there is no message from nostalrius staff knowing this.

How exactly do you expect someone, such as myself, to know that this is an exploit? You have given no information to the contrary to most players such as myself, so assuming anyone who does so is intentionally exploiting is not exactly fair or intelligent.

Once again, you have done a great job with the server, and I am sure alot of people pushing
questions on legitimate bands are annoying, but your statement I quoted is way out of line and false, and I think you should review how you came to your conclusion on that subject.

Cheers

Because nobody actually reported Kozilak. Contrary to whoever reported Slipry, Moo and Ranalapé, they didn't try to get these people banned. They just posted evidence that everyone is doing this.

Count down clicking to get the buff/item at the same node isn't exploiting? Ownedcore post from 2006 shedding this exploit to fruition claims it is an exploit. Just because blizzard didn't fix it until way later when it was no longer relevant doesn't mean it still isn't an exploit.

Next thing you are going to say is wall jumping to the SW torch and falling through the texture isn't an exploit :/ or any wall jumping that uses invisible steps to get somewhere up a slope.

Well, there is also evidence that cleansed songflower actually stays up for a duration after being cleansed so everyone can click it. So, which are true, which are false? I don't think either are exactly credible until really hard proof is delivered.

1) it's allowed to explore under sw, etc.

2) a rule that prohibits multiple people from looting a flower doesn't work in practice as you can't control if anyone will pick it with you.

Um, in TBC, my account got a 7 day suspension for doing that. Why do you think blizzard fixed it after awhile. I also got a 3 day suspension for wall jumping in Burning steppes to the vast land mass to the east of it. Those and the tubers (buff I cannot state from absolute certainty if it stayed, until better proof is given to show one way or the other, I'll leave that one up to the staff) were low priority in Blizzard's eyes.

Asking for even ruling across the board wouldn't make it Blizzlike either. Guilds have broken the account sharing rule on live to get ahead but when someone streamed he was helping someone his account and that person's gets a permanent closure. Case in point? Don't show yourself blatantly breaking the rules. Besides the three who streamed them count down clicking, who else actually got banned for this? I am sure people are still over those nodes getting the buff or tubers with no Staff in the way, banning willy nilly.

Exploring isn't against the rules here on nost.

Again. Every single time you post you fail to provide any logic.

A rule that prohibits multiple people from looting a flower doesn't work in practice as you can't control if anyone will pick it with you.

How then, are people supposed to go about Felwood flowers? If you can't answer that question don't post. You can write me an essay, but if you can't answer this simple question your post is irrelevant.

There is nothing in ToU about songflower/Whippers, so everyone thought its legit because its blizzlike. Noone else got banned yet. So i guess clever use of game mechanics / bad game design is now considered as exploit and bannable offense.

It's not even a clever use of game mechanics. It's just how the flowers work.
