Vanilla WoW.... and addiction

by blerpin92 » Sun Mar 27, 2016 3:43 pm

I've heard a lot or some of the changes made to vanilla were because of the "hardcoreness" involved with that is vanilla. I understand Vanilla was a unforgiving... unloving... incredible place, every turn had DANGER lurking whether it be stealthed mobs jumping on you in the jungle... or a pack of murlocs overwhelming you at the RR lake... Theres somethings you can't go at alone in this game.

Is it possible that the game was changed because of the sheer amount of people who just could not put the time in to level or gear up (thats all vanilla took was time.... ) or was the game changed because it is what all the little peons who couldn't achieve greatness wanted?

All joking aside I love vanilla wow i is an amazing game... and i hope be to be 60 some day soon..

People don't really understand much about things. They will hate and ramble about the work to be done about anything, only keeping the reward in their mind. The problem is, at the end of the day, it's just Corn Flakes :) and the real experience was getting there.

You win the lottery, you celebrate for a week, then you just wonder where to spend the stuff, get bored of the things you buy fairly quick, probably lose it all fairly soon since you don't quite appreciate it:

People who made themselves, got to overcome hardship with just their 2 hands and their wit, will rarely ever squander what they've earnt and will wake up every day feeling appreciative, as they know what it cost to procure them.

Things in life don't matter. They're inert after all.
The human experience around them does, as well as the sensations and thoughts people develop.

Some friends tell me that I was simply born rich enough to never have to appreciate material comfort and that's why I am how I am, but honestly, I've seen enough people go through life having shiny things as their clay idol, and seen how they end up, that I'm confident this isn't just bias.

People want Quality of Life changes, they will like it at first, but after a few years you wil realise the fact that the game was so hard and so inconvenient at times is what made the game so incredible.

Even though I achieved most of what I wanted in Vanilla (par Nax, only 3 bosses killed there) I enjoy this all again and it is with a great smile that I write this.

In 2 weeks of playing here I've already met more fun helpful people than in the last 3/4 years of retail WoW.

The Nostalrius people look like one of the most humble, hard working, smart people I've come across on the net. Nothing but respect is what I have for them.

Addicted... once again. Definately.

It was the answer to this question you made :)

Is it possible that the game was changed because of the sheer amount of people who just could not put the time in to level or gear up (thats all vanilla took was time.... ) or was the game changed because it is what all the little peons who couldn't achieve greatness wanted?

It's ok, friend.

At 11.26 am I'm rather just taking a moment to post here before leaving for lunch.

I replied with the overarching answer, trying to get you to understand why people whether a game, a job, or a situation to be easier and more convenient for them, even though in the long run it decreases the meaning and value for themselves. What I do wonder is why such an obvious analogy isn't grasped.

Dr.Doom has a point. If you have food in your stomach and roof above your head most stuff depends on psychology. Even in World of Warcraft.

OP, Dr. Doom's analogy was understood by me. Maybe because I have seen both sides of each from what he is implying.

Wow: there are people who remember you had to dedicate your time and energy and pretty much work like hell to get epics, titles, etc while it is now handed to you. Most retail people who play now don't know a purple or even an orange item's worth. You think those people soloing AQ40 know the value of any of those "mogs." Of course not, they spend maybe 25mins Max running through it farting on things and they die.

Real world analogy: self made millionaire. He knows the value of his dollar as he probably lost friends, family, and more to make it. Someone who won the lottery wouldn't know the value and not know how to invest to keep the money. See the similarities?
