the morals, transparency and respect of the Nostalrius crew that helped attract such a good community in the first place would have been lost along the way.

The Nostalrius staff attempted to be fairly secretive about their identity, but it wasn't even nearly well enough. They also have been constantly hammered for lack of transparency in certain cases but this didn't diminish the overall respect the server received from a much larger population of players than the ones who were paying very close attention from the start. Basically, "another" dev team with much better practices of encryption won't be viewed as having given up on the ideals that were attributed to nost.

You're saying that they should make mistakes and show technological incompetence so they don't rub the ignorant public who will think its some sort of voodoo magic the wrong way.
