Warmane Hosting vs Nostalrius Hosting

by Glader » Sat Apr 09, 2016 11:58 pm

Ok, so I'm a bit of a newb when it comes to networking but this seems quite odd to me. I can't fathom a way this information is being spoofed. Anyway...

Warmane appears to host its login.warmane.com service on AWS. The IP for this service is located on AWS (Amazon Cloud)

After connecting to a realm you're then connected to OVH at 37.187.173.57

As far as I know you can't spoof source and destination with TCP, so it seems like Warmane is hosting on OVH.

If that is the case how do they not get a C&D but Nostalrius does?

Warmane is based in Russia which means it's almost immune to blizzards bullshit. Russian servers typically tell blizzard to go fuck themselves

Did you even read the thread? Warmane appears to be hosting in the NA AWS (Amazon Cloud) and OVH (France) which is the same as Nostarlius.

I believe Warmane is based in Russia from what i heard. And from my understanding, OVH is a big company. They have services available in multiple countries, including Russia and France. So it wouldn't be too off the board to say that you are connecting to one of OVH's data centers.

Also. Warmane's site is hosted in the NA, and the ISP hosting that site is Cloudflare.

It says 37.187.173.57, which is the IP for the Ragnaros gameserver, is hosted on OVH in "country: FR" which I would imagine would be RU if they were hosting in Russia.

And OVH, being a huge company, is international. And i replied with "It wouldn't be too off board to say that you were connecting to one of OVH's data centers."

Yea I think you're right. It must be going through the FR Datacenter. Other OVH Russian IPs point there too as far as I can tell. Wish Nost just moved to RU =(

Yeah. I don't think warmane is getting shut down. In case you are thinking of going to Lordaeron. I am going there myself.

Warmane has been going since Cataclysm as (Molten), they certainly don't have the best reputation, but they are popular, probably even more so than nost and have yet to be touched. So it's certainly a safe bet.

been there and done that, wont go again no matter what. Lordaeron is a pretty fucked up server with raids buffed to schyzophrenic levels, for example anub 10 men had 2 millions hp, on live, but in their version anub 10 has 8 million hp , buffed with 350% on both hp and damage. this happens basically for every single boss out there.

You wanna do Voa after you are pre-raid bis from heroics ? Dream on, your GS is too low for them. Naxx ? Don't even think about it, the whole server is a complete elitist bunch of retards who hunt gearscore and only that. Lordaeron is a waste of time.
