Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile. Farewell.

Thank you the Nostalrius staff and our awesome community Horde and Alliance alike, I could only get to 20s but I enjoyed every minute of it.

The life saving heals thrown my way when my shitty warrior had 2 hp left.

The adrenaline pumping wpvp that made vanilla what it was for me and millions of others.

The heart warming sunshine in Westfall, the eternal comedy in Barrens, soul soothing Ashenvale, and all the booze provided by the Dwarves in Loc Modan.

I shall never forget my days here.

I know this is just a game, people might say its not a big deal. But a good game is just like a song, a book, a film or a poem, who can say that those cannot influence lives?

Vanilla wow is a special place that will always linger somewhere in my heart, I will always long for those carefree, idyllic days of my youth, when there were no real responsibilities, no real fears or hatred, no tiresome competition between friends, no pretentiousness and most importantly, no lifelong regrets, wrong choices that cannot be undone.

We were comrades, friends, lovers, artisans, bards and clowns in a beautiful world, slaying monstrosities, protecting the weak and bathing in honor and glory...

The entire world or at least the gaming world, seems to have moved on to a new mentality that us vanilla players are not familiar with. You install the latest flashy big name mmorpg, create a character, log in, take a step left and a big fucking ACHIEVEMENT blows your eyes into joyful tears of a potato. We want a challenge, we want a community and a living breathing virtual world, at least we think we do, but we actually don't, according to Blizzard.

Nostalrius was a rebirth for us, for that mentality and those memories but I ultimately had to stop playing two months ago because of the pressure from employment and life.

I promised myself I would never touch Vanilla WoW again, it was just too perfect, too personal, too dear to me, but I heard my heart whisper:

"After I have long retired, in an old man's body with a warrior's fury flaming within, I will return to Nostalrius, my real home, and live there,

until Mankirk finally finds his wife,
until the Deeprun Tram carries its last passenger,
until Thrall confesses to Jaina,
until Southfury freezes and flowers blossom in Winterspring,

until I am reunited with my friends for a final battle against the Scourge..."

Long live Nostalrius, long live the true artisans that created and rebuilt Vanilla WoW !!

Bump! guys come on it took me a good half hour to write that shit, while almost tearing up :p

To think that once upon a time I wished nothing more than working at Blizzard, even if i was to sweep the floor everyday, they were really the greatest gaming company between 95 to 2006, how can you fall this far this hard Blizzard? Wheres your passion? Do you even feel like playing the games you make these days? Or are they just like bigmac burgers, make them fast, sell them fast, who cares what they taste like?

That honestly describes retail content pretty accurately. Their audience has changed. WoW isn't about long-term progression anymore; it's about consuming the latest content quickly in bite sizes.

They officially sell gold and character boosts. What more can you say, really?

After watching countless video tributes, reading discussions and pretty much following the reaction from both the community and blizzard/blizfanboys, I pretty much think Nostalrius was more Blizzard than the current employees who work under the "blizzard" trademark.

At this point it feels like the only meaningful way to implement vanilla is for the Nostalrius team to gain the approval from these people who now owns the "blizzard" trademark just so they wont be shut down again.

I am tired of seeing fanboys saying: its their product, deal with it.
Sheep, mindless sheep, with no opinion, just following the whip and sucking on the whipper's wood.

Its not just a product, its a beloved art form, a genre called mmorpg that they fucked up and continues to fuck up.

We are consumers, it is true, but we need to be able to demand, critique and suggest. If all consumers were like the fanboys who downvote as soon as they see any threads that remotely suggest things could be improved, then all we have will always be facebook games, shitting in garrisons alone, a single player game in disguise.

Why is everything being dumbed down now days? Whose fault is that? Who is creating all these egoistic, lazy developers who do not respect their craft? They go for the obvious, the easiest route, the simplest attraction, the tits, the shining gold coins, the colorful childish icons, the instant rewards, do these devs have any passion for gaming still? do they play their own creation with a passion?

I say its the fanboy sheep, who has fed giants like Blizz for too long, who is unable to do any critical thinking, who might as well upload their brains to the cloud and act as a collective being because all they ever say is : "why complain, its how it is, deal with it, accept it, move on to the next new things, shove it down your throat and be happy."

A game released in 2004 is still the best mmorpg we have...the genre with the most potential, going backwards each year to become the pile of shit it is today.. sad.

I'm going to be honest, I can't bring myself to type up much on this subject.

But I grew up playing WoW, I'm going to be honest it was a game that I played for a very long time. I played it through Vanilla, when I was eight years old until Wrath of The Lich King. Was I a good player during Vanilla, no I wasn't I won't even begin to pretend that I wasn't that eight to nine year old kid that somehow made it to level 60 only to suck when it came to endgame content. No, I was horrible.

Hell, even through B.C. I was a shit player who mainly just had fun with the community and just loved exploring the world. That's when I really got into the lore and history of WoW.

Now, here I sit after becoming a fairly accomplished raider/pvper in Wrath who now can't even play the current iteration of WoW. It hurts me, to see something I grew up loving so ravaged by leeches that seek nothing more then money from it.

Nostralius, allowed me to truly experience what I couldn't when I was a kid. I never got all of the boss mechanics, hell I never made it past Molten Core when I was a kid. But this gave me the opportunity to truly get into my own and tear through the end game. Truly allowing me to see, just how much I've changed as a person and as a player.

I Love World of Warcraft, or rather I Loved what it was.

:(

I hope this wave of protests don't die down too soon, I hope we can at least show game developers all over the world that there is still a sizable market for true immersive mmorpgs.

Thanks to Blizz, Nolstalrius is much more powerful than before. TBH I don't think this is over, this is just the beginning. I am actually glad I found out about Nostalrius and it's great community.
English isn’t my first language, so please excuse any mistakes.
