Player Claims Nostalrius Profited (Tinfoil Hat - The Movie!)

Now, firstly I have to say that I do not believe this accusation for many reasons. Though, if I wanted to build a 'non-profit' private server that did generate a profit this is probably how I would go about doing it. So again, I don't believe this is the case but I suppose the Admins here should dispel this claim.

This player claims to have bought thousands of gold the first couple days of the PvE server release. I can't imagine there being that much gold day 2, unless there were unknown exploits, and I can't imagine the GMs wouldn't notice such a massive influx of gold since they obviously did track this stuff (my friend got banned for buying 20 gold lol).

So, was there an exploit that allowed players to generate an absurd amount of gold? Is this player just making up shit? Or... *equips tinfoil hat* did Nostalrius act as goldsellers to sell gold?

Probably the first scenario I think, if this player isn't lying. Though, he probably is so I think scenario two is a safe bet.

Scenario three though, I've seen/heard this thing happening on Schthack which is an old, dead and corrupt, Phantasy Star Online private server. Stories were Crono, the leader, would pose as other players to sell things to players looking to buy items on the black market. I believe rumor had it he then banned them after the sales for doing just that but kept the money.

Schthack was a very smart man, a man who built up the private server community for Phantasy Star Online with a handful of others. He created essentially the Nostalrius of Phantasy Star Online, but then disappeared many years ago.

Schthack was also french... Maybe Schthack took his reverse engineering knowledge and brought his skills to the World of Warcraft domain to build a World of Warcraft legacy server of the same quality, no... Even greater quality! That server being Nostalrius.

Schthack then copies Crono's abuse of his previous Phantasy Star Online server and generates profits from Nostalrius by posing as Xiaozing's and selling gold on shady websites becoming the next Kaer Wolf millionaire in the process.

I think that's enough entertainment for tonight. Anymore and this could devolve into some sort of erotic fanfic involving WoW gold and hookers.

I'm not going to lie.. I thought exactly the same thing. But I'm sure it was just an exploit that was being taken advantage of. Some of these accounts with crazy amounts of gold kept getting banned.

I heard rumors that some of the GM's 'had their hands in the cookie jar' and were selling gold for their own personal profit. This was merely a rumor and I have no basis for it, but seeing this post made me come forward because it's basically exactly what I read elsewhere....

Yea lol, I find it hard to believe. I can't imagine 40,000 gold minimum could be floating around day 2 with no repercussions on the economy alone.
