Blizzard > Nostalris

You know what, Nostalrius. If you are so quickly surrendered without a fight , without trying to do anything , I just stand by Blizzard. They -> Blizzard <- is going to hell and shit , but they know how to protect their community. And you, Nostalrius, do not provide any protection of yourfans , and it's sad. You make good product and surrender. Protect your work is one of the important parts of a successful and respected community.

I don't know anything but it should be noted that the guy who runs EQ p99 was shocked that nostalrius did this on the first notice.

I know one thing , if I move to live in France, I 'll be captured by the Arabs . if I 'm going to play on the French server I'll be captured by Blizzard's law

I interpreted this as a cave man speaking without a clue what he even wants to speak about.

Unless you're going to pay all their legal fees for what would probably be several years in court, it's perfectly logical for them to not want to fight Blizzard. Putting aside the risk of losing the case, which would have dire consequences, simply fighting it is a long and expensive process.

What you fail to realise is that Nost have been paid off (to shut down) by Blizzard, as happened with Scape, as it would be extremely difficult for them to pursue them legally over running a gameserver with their own source code.

Do you wonder why there are other servers with far more players who aren't experiencing these difficulties? Yes, many of them are hosted in France (e.g AT).

There were no legal consequences at the time. Both the owner of EQ P99 and Malaco, who is a dev for warmane said they were surprised that they gave up on the first Cease and Desist order.

In fact. Malaco even went into further discussion, saying that nearly EVERY server receives these letters but ignore them. Cease and Desist orders aren't subpoena's. There aren't legal fee's to be had at this point. But Nost gave up easily and quickly.
