How the mighty have fallen

MMO Champion used to be a place where really well know high level WOW players hung out. Recently someone started a thread "How to fix World of Warcraft".

Then this comment was posted.

"As long as they don't bring back crap like reagents, ammo or ranked spells I agree with most of your points. However make the world hard again but not so hard it throws casual players off. Like the early levels are easy then it ramps up a bit later on. Also be careful with Unique player identity because it could affect transmog badly unless you made a way for players to have nice looking glamour gear that has no stats on."

This is why WOW sucks. People like this...

Its rather sad retail wow players hang their hats on transmorg. The fact most of them seek out and store t1-t6 gear in their bank is hilarious. Hilarious because people hated most of the gear sets post t6 and flock to the gear that looked like it had a direction and looked like devs took time to make them.

Some of the new tier gear look like they was made by Bed Bath & Beyond and SEARS.

"Are those microwaves on your shoulders?"
"X-rays and Hot Pockets bitches!!!"

Tbh it feels more like the people who posts at mmo-c are the people who still play retail and worship the ground blizzard employees walk on. When it comes to moderators on those forums, jeeez.... talk about "corrupt" system, where some users know the moderators (probably irl) and never get infractions, even after starting flame bait thread after flame bait etc.

The way I look at it, Blizzard introduced transmog as a way of saying "yeah, our recent designs are crap, so have a tool to hide our shame".
Personally I felt it started in late TBC. Sunwell equip... that still had very TBC (blood elf spiked with demon) aestethics, but extremely garish. Almost like wotlk equip, but using more colours than just black :D.

Except for mage sets. We all know that mage sets had no real direction until T3 :P. T4 is damn sexy though. As is the priest set.

I actually like the Sanctified Dark Coven's Regalia Tier 10 Warlock set from WOTLK for my Orc.

So awesome. :)

I hate the cowl on this so much. The shoulders are also over the top, but that cowl, come on. It's on par with T5 in terms of bad. Except T5 wins with the extreme edginess it has.

I don't actually even understand that argument. Even with attunements, reagents, and the long slow grinds the game was casual friendly. I played from just before BC release until MoP. I've always been a casual player. Despite that I did some raiding during BC, in a somewhat casual based raiding community.

Even if you didn't raid, the world was big enough for RP events, and some people just enjoyed questing with friends. The game had less "features" but was big enough for people to find their own entertainment.

Frankly, I think the player base for retail is poles apart from what was around up to wrath. If they made a legacy server or two JUST as they were, they'd likely bring back some of the casuals even that stopped playing, not because of what the game became, but what it did to the community.

My honest opinion is that IF Blizzard do anything, it won't be true legacy servers. They will likely somehow (well actually it'd not be THAT hard) bring back the old world, old quests, old raids, old level cap. But somehow bring it with the new client, new talents, shop and other nonsense. The horror of the worst of both worlds.

MMO-champion's forums are 100% pure cancer, only go there if you want an aneurism. It's worse than WoW forums.

you are overexagerating.

Most sets of BC were crappy looking. And there are awesome sets in Wotlk and Cata.

Post cata everything is cancer imho
