Just a thought

First of all, this is totally speculative so, please, take it as such and don't jump into conclusions too soon.

If you were in the shoes of Mark Kern would you take the same actions that he has taken? I mean, Mike Morhaime is supposedly his friend, right? Would you make a public statement supporting something which might theoretically hurt your friend in some way without telling him, or would you try to convince him in private? I would do the latter, and I would only do the first if my friend asked me to do so in order to get a better measure of the real support without getting involved himself.

As I said before, this is highly speculative, but I have the feeling that there is something else that we don't know yet.

If Mike Morhaime still plays WoW, I don't think that he is sactisfied with the current state of the game, but... "The Evil Activision" exists and he can't go against Stackholders and Activision process to make games. Blizzard can have their own developers, but they must need to follow Activision rules... and Activision has many games to develop and wow is only one (now, with much less subscribers).

Mike Morhaime needs to punch on the table to give us a chance!

But, do you believe in this? I'm not sure of that

What he posted on Change.org seem to suggest otherwise:
1) You say you lost the original source for vanilla, so use Nostralus' version.
2) Hire the team that did it and let them run/support the service under the Blizzard banner.
3) Add cloud based support so people can spin up private legacy servers on Bnet, chose an expansion, and play with their friends.

The ideal outcome would be no.2 of course, I have more faith in a group of passionate gamers which Nostalrius has already proven to be.

I fear Mark is a tiny bit over optimistic about his friendship with Blizzard, we will know soon enough, its almost 200k.

If all fail, I hope this event is at least remembered every time when someone thinks about paying big greedy corporations like Blizzard for their recycled easy mode rubbish.

If all else fails, I'll still be playing private severs. Doesn't hurt me to level up again.
