Sounds like fun, because that's basically what I do anyway. Never played vanilla, but hitched a ride on that bandwagon because people should be able to do what they want.

All we can do is hope for the game to be fun again. In the meantime, enjoy your Garrisons 2.0 and dwindling retail population spread among 200+ servers
