If MMO-C has a friendly relationship with Blizzard (which is pure assumption, but it is something I believe to be true), they still don't want it to look like they literally do whatever Blizzard wants them to do, content-wise. By censoring all content related to the shutdown, that would effectively say, "Yes, we do whatever Blizzard asks of us."
By at least allowing a thread on the subject on their forums, MMO-C can demonstrate their independence, while respecting Blizzard by keeping it off their front page.
I would like to say that MMO-C having a friendly relationship with Blizzard is not necessarily a bad thing. Open lines of communication between the site and Blizzard is beneficial to users of the site. And by not completely censoring information about the Nost shutdown, they're demonstrating that they're not just an unofficial marketing arm of Blizzard, but a fan site dedicated to MMO news and discussion.
I know this may all sound like I'm an MMO-Champion shill, It's just that I can see why they would keep it off their front page, while still allowing discussion on the topic.
