Blizzard With Their Head in the Sand Again... -_-

by Gankfest » Tue Apr 26, 2016 6:24 pm

I read the blue post today, and saw the part about it's too hard to implement a server for vanilla. #Whine Then on to some crap about pristine server. Like how to poop in my hand, and then be like it's cool bro... It's Pristine!

With that being said, how much does 1 vanilla take to run hardware wise? I figure these days it has to be relatively small. I don't understand what is so tough about taking Nostalrius code, put a small server block in Mike Morhaime office, stick a plant on top of it to better the graphics and immersion. Profit...

I didn't play on Nostalrius, because I played on Feenix for 3.5 years, and got burnt out right when this server launched. I remember friends leaving to play on it, but I just took a break. Now I wanna play again, which is how I found out this server was getting shut down. I hope they stop being tards, suck up their failures, and implement legacy servers... -_-

Mark Kern said on twitter that the Nost team told him that the servers for Nost didn't cost much at all, like a few hundred dollars a month. If that can host 12k players already, 100K players would be less than 10k a month, and so on. Kern also said that Blizzard gets great deals and discounts on servers because they need so many of them, so it would be even cheaper. I honestly don't think it would cost Blizzard a lot these days, unless we're talking about 10 million players playing it, and even then it would be manageable if they ask for a monthly fee.

It's not cost, it's lazyness. That's where the idea of 'pristine' servers stems from. The easiest workaround they could come up with to try to appease the legacy movement.

Where they went wrong is that they assume that we are the same stupid sheep as the current retail players. They think we will buy into it because the people currently playing have been eating up the crap they server on a daily basis (and paying for it .. which is extremely mindblowing because Blizz would have to pay me my hourly rate in order to play Warlords of Farmville)

What they have failed to figure out is that most of us are not as stupid as the typical retail player and we're all very well aware when we are being served a heaping plate of shit.

Don't insult my intelligence Blizz. Have at it and put up your pristine servers (great waste of $$$ and resources), but seriously don't expected us to believe that J. Allen Brack's post to the community is any sort of resolution. If anything you are just further alienating your customer base by insinuating that we are all complete idiots.

I'm pretty sure it would take less money and resources to implement a legacy server; than implementing a pristine server. Which the filthy casuals from retail don't even want to play(According top Blizz forums.), and it's not like the amazing, talented, gifted, and best ever Vanilla crowd wants that s**t either. I swear at this point, this is how I think Blizzard has made decisions since WOLTK.
