It's NOT About Nostalgia: Blizzard Does Not Get It

For some reason the devs at blizz think that the only reason people want to play vanilla wow is to relive the glory days of 10 years ago from a nostalgic sense. While that may be part of it, the reason why people love vanilla is because they prefer this version of the game. It's like the people who would rather playing Diablo 2 as opposed to Diablo 3. They simply like and enjoy playing Diablo 2 more. Blizzard still does not understand this.

Vanilla WoW represents one of the last great bastions out there that rewarded the hardcore player. We want a game that we can pour our blood, sweat and tears into and be rewarded properly for doing so. Getting a new piece of gear in Vanilla feels amazing because it feels as though it was actually earned. There is very little that is handed to you in Vanilla and that's what makes it so great. Finally getting that Ashkandi after 30 BWL runs or getting exalted in a battleground after countless hours. It feels awesome and oh so rewarding.

Blizzard still supports Diablo 2 so the fact that they say they can't support original WoW along with the current version is total bullshit. They are simply being lazy. We don't want to play the current game. We don't want pristine servers. We want to play Vanilla WoW in all it's original unmodified glory. Let us play it blizzard.

I started playing the game for the nostalgia and stayed because I was having fun. If they were to release legacy servers, I'd subscribe to them. I'd play their new xpack and new content for about a month and swap right back to my legacy home. (So that means I'd have to even buy their shitty xpack)

Pristine servers shouldn't even be acknowledged as anything close to a resolution. It will still be absolute garbage and unplayed.

My first experience of wow was feenix's emerald dream server in 2013. After leveling to max I went on retail. It's fuck all to do with Nostalgia, unless socialising on wow is so far gone that it is nostalgic to socialise on there

There's objectively good and lasting game design in Classic WoW that they refuse to acknowledge because they cannot understand it, not that those who like it really understand it either though, it's not a well studied subject.

I started at end of wotlk.Nostalgia had nothing to do in my case.We can all agree that im not the only one. That Brack guy thinks only vanilla players want classic servers back...In latest blue post he mentioned that "nostalgia problem"....ffs.

Lets see... the current version of wow.

Hardcore Challenge? Gone...
Real team work required to succeed in the game? Gone
Hard work/High Risk for high reward? Gone...
Putting your time and effort for said reward? Gone...
Reeling the moments of frustrations to then finally pull through achieve a hard goal .. that feeling of accomplishment? ...Gone
Real world PvP? ...Gone
Long hard battles that would take sometimes take many hours of not days? (AV) ...Gone
Epic loot meaning exactly just that.. Epic? ...Gone
Social friendships and guild bonds you made while playing?
Coordinating an entire group of friends, strangers and guildees to accomplish a raid? ...Gone
The Sense of exploration of the new world and sense of world realism? (you know.. as in WORLD of Warcraft) ...Gone

And man i can just go on and on... Why would i want to play the current version of WoW?
