Poll: Blizzard's Actions vs. Nost. and Overwatch

by Prophilosophy » Sat May 21, 2016 12:31 am

So I created a poll (I wasn't able to find a way to do it on this forum) on your thoughts on Blizzard, Nostralius, and whether or not the recent events affected your decision to purchase Overwatch (or not).

Head over there and drop your opinion!

Posting a poll like that on mmoc is about the equivilent of asking a feminist forum if they think the pay gap is a myth

If anything the obvious poll results will just reinforce their belief that were an irrelevant minority and take us less seriously

Luckily, mmoc peoples opinions dont actually matter, but still
Galvanizing people against us seems like a dumb move imo

Why do people keep using that stupid argument about protecting their IP when its obviously false since ALL OTHER PRIVATE SERVERS ARE STILL UP AND RUNNING, EVEN SOME THAT ARE MONETIZED? And Nost wasn't monetized, that we know of. I mean what am I missing? Am I wrong? Serious question and i'm open to the possibility of being wrong. I know some people are dumb but do they not think about these things?

Yap.

I'd even go as far as to say that the response on MMO-C is much more predictable. More close-minded and aggressive forums are hard to find.

If you really want to see copyright BS, you should read about how Fox ripped footage from a Youtube video recently, which was uploaded in 2009, which they used in a new episode of Family Guy, then afterwards claimed they owned the footage, and had the video taken down. It was footage of a video game from decades ago(long before the show was even made), uploaded in 2009, which they now acted as if they owned simply because it was used in a new Family Guy episode. And they started taking down videos that matched the footage, including the one they stole it from in the first place. They didn't actually boot up the game to get the footage. They ripped it off a Youtube video. Then said they owned it and had the video taken down. The uploader did manage to get it back after a dispute, but it's BS that they were able to have it taken down in the first place.

Those other servers surely get letters from blizzards law department as well to the extent they can be found. I would assume that most such servers keep their own names of the books as much as possible, as well as placing their service somewhere where IP means close to nothing (such as Russia).
