Client/Server data Blizzard doesn't know how much is saved

The Nost team (god bless them) believed that this was not a PR stunt, but at the end of the day we're still treated to a buffet of speculation on what the technical problems are or how much server/client code is missing, or even the commitment needed to fix it.
It could be as simple as Goldshire is missing to multiple loot tables missing, boss scripts corrupted. Who knows? It all sounds much scarier when your imagination fills in the blanks.
It went from:
- No one wants it
- Not enough people want it
- You think you want it but you don't
- It's not financially viable
- The code doesn't exist
- We want to move forward with the game not backward
- We want Vanilla too, but the technical hurdles are insurmountable
- The code does exist but some of it's missing (won't tell you what or how much though)
It's lies on top of fallacies, mockery, arrogance, condescension and misdirection. Just excuse, after excuse, after excuse. Have you ever known a person that constantly makes excuses about everything? Yeah we all got pretty fucking tired of them quick.
Blizzard has fought us every step of the way on this, and you expect me to believe after one meeting where they acted with 'enthusiasm' that there is something concrete going on at Excuse HQ? I remain entrenched in skepticism and mild contempt.

The meeting was a step for sure. I am sorry you feel this way, but imo you're wrong, way wrong on so many levels, mate. I just did a topic about this matter where Blizzard devs playing Nost server! If it was a PR then they wouldn't bother to play at all.
Attracting almost 1mil accounts on a private server is quite an achievement to say the least. If you watch the documentary about Blizzard (LFG on Youtube), you would understand why. When they created this game they were hopping for no more than 1mil ppl to play WoW, even less. So the guys from Nostalrius did what Blizzard wanted back in the days. 1mil ppl playing vanilla "again"
All in all, Legacy will happen for sure, just won't be now, or maybe next year. But my guess in about 2 years expect Legacy for sure. Even i can bet money on it.

I edited this post to remove some salt. So all I gotta say is I hear you OP, and i'm not going to hold my breath for 2 years for an outdated game. I'd rather look forward to a replacement, especially after being strung along for months since Nostalrius was shut down. Its just such a waste of energy expecting anything from Blizz.
O developer with common sense, where art thou? Save of from this plague of MMO mediocrity.

That's how I feel, salt included. I just don't trust them and am sick of their endless excuses. It's starting to get to the point where my care cup is almost empty and I'm ready to close the chapter and forget Blizzard for good.

It should already be closed until (if) they announce Legacy. I'm never buying a Blizzard product again unless they host that.

This post is on point.

I think they are on the level with their technical assessment, but at the same time they have an easy "out" if things don't pan out, for some reason. I think someone with the drive & passion of the Nost devs would quickly find a solution to the lost game objects. I think the jury is out a bit longer for Blizzard, though.

Either make a server or let fan made servers exist. It's not a hard decision and it shouldn't take months and months to even respond.
These drawn out slow responses and PR attempts are just getting more and more annoying. Do they really think they can get away with being assholes who close down fan made servers where people are having fun with some good pr stunts? Did you notice that they had their PR manager at the meeting and community dev ppl and no chief operations officer or business operations? I'm hating blizzard more and more with every passing day.

You make some interesting points, and I see where you are coming from. Remember that a lot of those points were said way before the Nostalrius Shutdown. In my opinion it wasn't until then they finally opened there eyes and realized that there is a ton of people that want this, so now they are now SLOWLY CHANGING their stance. Blizzard Entertainment is a large company so things are going to take time, and I believe they are now viewing legacy as a potential profit. I also agree what Norjak stated, if all goes down the drain they can fall back to technical problems situation which is a legitimate reason for not having legacy servers if they can't do it.
Also don't forget as well that according to Nostalrius Dev team in their most recent announcement they stated at the end of the article, J.Allen still wants to keep in touch with the Nostalrius dev team. I interpret that as being we are still interested in legacy tell us more. I am pretty sure at this point if Blizzard wanted to keep denying legacy, pretty sure J. Allen would not want to keep in touch with them at all.

Blizzard are making themselves so hated with their slow response drivel that to successfully launch legacy servers at this point they would need to employ Nostalrius staff to get themselves some love. So i hope he does stay in touch with them.
