Legacy if legion fails?

by Rumdoodle » Sat Jun 11, 2016 8:26 am

Does anyone believe that Blizzard will announce Legacy servers before legions release? I'm kind of leaning towards the notion that if legion fails then Blizzard will seriously consider Legacy servers as a final way to increase their sub count.

An announcement could possibility happen at Blizzcon given that they'll be months after the film, Overwatch, and Legion's releases. I would imagine they are looking to plan 2017 sometime before Blizzcon.

I think they want to watch how Overwatch & Legion fare first before releasing any news about vanilla.
Though im sure that they're discussing the idea internally right now and might give us a hint at Blizzcon.

I would not say "if Legion fails".
I would say "when Legion fails".

WoW has been on life support for a long time, rushing expansions to try to save the subs, which spike slightly after each release, then promptly plummet again. The subs don't stay because there's no longevity to the game anymore, and the expansions have very little content post release(because they're already racing to get on with the next one). Legion will fare no better. Most likely, it'll be worse. You'd think the people invested in the subs would want to keep you around and design for longevity, not against it. The original developers did this. They actually knew wtf they were doing when they made the game. When it took you a year to level and do raid tiers, they got a sub for a year. Now you're done with everything the game has in a month, so you unsub in a month. From a business perspective, that's counterproductive, aka fucking dumb.

What exactly do you mean by "if Legion fails"? As in if they dont cover their production costs? They will almost certainly will. WoD was a sound success in that regard.

They don't care only about profit, what's important is the growth. Nobody doubts the cash in will be bigger than cash out. What they want to know is whether the potential profit of their money at time t2 will be greater than potential profit at time t1, if it is not the case then a bit of faith is lost in the product.

I think there will be a SIGNIFICANT less number of people buying legion, after getting seriously f*cked over by Dreanor, and Legion promises an even more dumbed down game with less depth, awsome for facebook game fans i guess
