If Blizzard still refuses to host, I'm sure we'll get more private servers with leaked Nost code. Blizzard can have fun hunting them all down. In their quest to defend their lost revenue, they're actually wasting money in copyright threats and losing more by angering customers. When you wack someone's server, they're not exactly encouraged to pay for your retail afterwards, and even less encouraged to buy your other products. Shutting down Nost was probably the stupidest business decision Blizzard has made... since... well probably selling itself to Activision.

Indeed, its kinda the same effect it has when goverments and hollywood try to hunt down piratebay and other pirates, how did that work out for them? According to data it does not even slow it down, but increase it. Shooting yourself in the foot. But i think you are right, if we after Blizzcon dont even get a wiff of them wanting to do this, i would be suprised if we dont see more private servers pop up, and rightlyfully so in that case.

Closing down piracy websites is not the same thing. The products you are stealing are still being sold by their creators, meaning they are losing revenue. Blizzard however does not host/sell any older version of WoW, so they do not lose anything to private servers. If they want any revenue that is going to private servers, they must first host the older versions themselves. They can shut down every private server, and it will do nothing for them, because they do not sell the damn product in the first place. They operate with an ancient obsolete arrogant mindset, that their current version is and should be the only one anyone plays. The reality is that it's a totally different game than what it used to be and was designed to be. In fact WoW has changed greatly with each expansion, and each can easily be considered its own product. Yet they refuse to host any version other than the newest.

That is your opinion. I feel like if blizzard doesn't host legacy servers, you can't play vanilla somewhere your account and characters have safety and are guaranteed that they won't dissapear like in nostalrius.

I don't understand how can you play such a game that demands a lot of time when you can lose everything from the night to the morning, honestly.

Do not come saying that vanilla is about the community not the characters, because that is the falsest statement i've ever heard. Vanilla is something special because of the progress of your character and the long journey it takes with your friends, if you can't save that what is the point of playing again.
