So if legacy DOESN'T get mentioned at Blizzcon...

by VeloxBanks » Sat Jul 09, 2016 12:38 pm

What then? Obviously the two options when it IS mentioned is a straight no or a yes. But what happens if they don't mention it? Do we just continue waiting? Do we do something else to bring attention to it? Or do we quit...?
'tis but a jest, brother!

If they don't say anything I guess it will take time before a proper movement takes pace to force them to say something. It will take another months, another pettitions, another Mike Kern yadayada, another spaming on their facebook and forums. So I guess it would be healthy for community to just have the bloody damned Nostalrius code, anti-cheat (for a trusty server) and database (a cookie yaaay!) so we can spend some time elsewhere, having casual fun while waiting. This waiting for King Blizzard to wave his royal fucking finger pisses me off beyond reason.

P.S meanwhile gaming youtube is spammed with overwatch and im like "fuck the world, fuck it!"

Since Nost decided to crown themselves as the legacy server saviors rather than release the code it means we would be stuck in another long period of mediocre and shit servers.

Nostalrius' big force was not the code, but how they structured the team behind Nost. Releasing the code would just lead to even more half-hearthed Vanilla servers, so I prefer to have Nost to wake Blizzard up.

I agree with Mimma

Every shit server would market them selfs as "Nostalrius 2" and try to benefit from your loss. You are better than that bros.

If nothing comes out of this: Private server scene is still evolving. And someone else is going to answer to current demand.

Agreed. Releasing the code would just mean a shit storm of new servers, ran by people who are not Nostalrius, which would inevitably fail.

Could just release it to one :)

success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.

if blizz says yes I hope to see how well they handle it and if we get a true vanilla experience.

Blizzard isn't going to do jack squat, ever. You think they will, but they won't.
It will take a few years, but eventually some project will come along that's bigger than Nost - and they will host the server someplace where Blizzard will keep being told to f&ck off if they don't like it.

The community is smart enough to recognize a shit server, as demonstrated by the mass exodus from Emerald Dream when something better (Nost) came out.

Im genuinely curious why people are hoping the legacy servers are ran by blizzard themselves. Look at the state of cheating(fly hacking not to mention botting) that goes on retail and they literally turn a blind eye to it. While there were cheater and botters on nost they would get banned very quick.

I remember watching a twitcher speed hacking around ab and got ported to gm island within 1 minute of the speed hacking beginning. Nost did a great job vs cheaters and botters. They are in a whole nother universe compared to blizzards stance vs cheaters.

I dont mind paying at all, id gladly if they let nost reopen as it was and let the nost devs continue with project.

Oh and also if blizz did finally decide to do it we wouldnt see the servers for atleast another year and thats being very generous. Fuck waiting that long. i could also see them adding stupid retail shit to it like faction changing and having their cash shop to get special items. Pure vanilla or nothing at all please.
