Knew this would happen, no news, no posts, no discussion, its all over boys and grills... i for saw what would happen AND NONE OF YOU LISTENED!

Blizzard has won once more.. how long till nostalrius becomes a myth to the community? i can already see the loss of a great server.. if only notalrius fought back..!

PS: i will never get to see windfury get fixed on nostalrius :( DAMN IT!

You do realise that Nost is far from the end, right?

Just because they pulled out at the first sign of danger doesn't mean everyone will.

Hope dies last. And if all your hope lies at the hands of a stock mangos server... gg.

There are two Nostalriuses:

a. The server and its staff.

b. The Community (i.e. the players).

Our friends the Nostalrius staff have taken the server down, but the second part that made Nostalrius, the Community, is alive and well and presently playing in Kronos II.

Almost everyone you knew from Nostalrius is there. Yesterday, I even saw players from the old Nostalrius guild <EMPLOYED BY BLIZZARD>.

Yeah, even THEM are in Kronos II.

'Nuff said.

I played on Nostalrius from april 2011 to april 2016 and I've never quit following the forum.

Just like many other players, old french community as much as the international one.
Don't see Nostalrius as a big community but more a loyal community.

This is not the first closing for the serv, the staff is loyal as well.
The comments in the first posts are bullshit.

Yeah it's always interesting to check the development of Nostalrius, even when you don't have time to commit to playing Vanilla.

Other servers ignore the legal threats. Nostalrius caved at the first sight of trouble, foolishly hoping for a peaceful compromise or solution instead. They seem to harbor some childish fairy tale hope that Blizzard is going to come around and host or sanction Nost. This isn't a children's book, or some kind of shitty Disney movie. It's real life. Real life victories come from court battles. If they had just ignored the threat and kept on hosting, you'd still have your server today. Blizzard has yet to follow up on the threats to any other server, which routinely ignore the cease and desist letters. Assuming Blizzard did try to take you to court, raising money for a defense from the private server scene would have been effortless. The biggest problem with a court battle is the legal defense costs, which would have been in the bag as soon as you publicly revealed you were being sued. The ongoing court battle would have been horrendous for Blizzard's public reception as well, much worse than you tucking tail and running away. What they got instead now was one fire, which they simply waited out, and will now sweep all this under the rug with a few fancy new toy releases. "We're sorry about your Nostalrius server. Here's a remake of Starcraft 1." Problem solved.
