Not gonna happen.

I edit this whole thread since i made it from the ignorance before reading Viper's statement.

Tbh i hope blizzard doesn't say shit in Blizzcon so Nostalrius (theorically) open his servers again so we can continue where everything was left.

However, if blizzard thinks about that case, im pretty sure they will say something at blizzcon. The problem comes next.

Let's say blizzard says they are working on it and we'll be able to play in legacy servers "soon", with no date given nor any other info. They would just shut us down for a long time once more again, and honestly, i dont want this to happen.

So, what do you think?

Now seriously, they are not opening the server, nor any fresh realm, simply because they (nost devs) decided to shut down the server , leaving this project.

You don't need devs to re-open the server, however they are needed to advance the project forward. How do you know some of them wouldn't come back, or other devs would join the project? This is all just speculation, in any case (on both sides of the argument.)

So, speaking about any come back of Nostalrius, is not going to happen, and when i say is not going to happen i mean the chances are 0%, like when 1 of those turtles of hillsbrad foothills drop a cat pet , one of 35k turtles, and we only have 1 chance.

Do you really think, even after going to blizzard CEO, they are just gonna say , "oh, they didn't mention anything at blizzcon, ok , lets go reopen". No guys no, nost devs are out of the game. All you can do is hoping that Blizzard releases Legacy servers, and honestly, i don't think it will happen, because they are focused in new projects to earn money, not spending resources on recreating old content just for a really little bit minority (even if they make legacy, how many people will pay for it and for how long, a 12 years old content with no progress...)

I don't know if they will talk about legacy, i don't know if they will make the shitty pristine servers... i just think legacy is more likely not going to happen, either from Blizzard or Nostalrius (the last one 100% sure)

The more illusions you make, the hardest will be the hit you got.

greetings

Looking at Nost numbers alone, they did draw the same crowd as Eve Online does (and its profitable and going strong) so that reason is just bs, while they still earn more money through retarded and cash grabing games such as Hearthstone and Overwatch - thats true. Being a bit realistic, its uncertain what Nost will do, but they will do something, that much is obvious from their post.

Did you even read the latest post in the announcements section? second bullet point:
"According to the discussion we had since our official meeting at their headquarters, they now have everything in their hands to fulfil the large community request for Legacy servers, solving all the previous technical issues they highlighted during the feedback they provided."
This almsot guarantees they are releasing legacy servers.

This also proves they have been in discussion since the first meeting despite saying they havn't been.

Lol.
The Nostalrius crowd is easily as large as most smaller MMO's, more than enough to be considering a profitable customer base. You are approaching this so superficially. There are currently 300,000 people who signed the petition, that is 6.6% of WoW's current player base (assumed at 4.5 million). 300,000 people is a very easy number to regarding player base. Even if some of those people don't end up playing, there is still plenty of people who haven't even heard of Nostalrius that are willing to play. And considering all Blizzard has to do is bring back old content, something people did in their spare time for free, there is so little risk involved.

The numbers are there, Blizzard could make a profit. Or they could waste money swatting down every legacy server that pops up over seas.

Do you really think 300k people signed the letter because they cared about vanilla wow? and you think 300k people would PAY for vanilla? You must be kidding, i was here the day this blowed up and passed 2 weeks only around 30k people had signed the letter. The signs came later when all those famous streamers made random people to know about all of this.

Im not a proffesional, probably neither you are, but im pretty sure wow devs don't want to focus on recreating old content, all they look for is money, don't you think they would released legacy servers years ago if they wanted to?

i actually disagree with you a lot. realistically theres millions who have never heard of private servers, tens of millions of players who may never have even heard of private servers. i knew i never did until nost. if ANYTHING more than that 300k would be willing to play/pay for it. you underestimate how much humans LOVE nostalgia.

This. There are many people who never signed the petition, never played in the private server scene, don't watch streamers at all, and who would come back to vanilla / legacy in a heartbeat. If Blizz doesn't want legacy WoW, it's not because there's no demand for it. People who haven't played WoW in years will find out about it, it will easily surpass any other mmo on the market today aside from Legion if they want it to be a success.
