This whole thing is so damn stupid. You first shut your server down because blizzard was going to sue you.
Then you go to Blizz C&A and you say "Blizzard is VERY interested" "They were really listening to us".
Mark Kern tries to be the hero of the vanilla movement.
Let's make a tshirt campaign so we can make blizzard see that we want vanilla.
Oh, if they don't bring back vanilla, we will make honour of our own core values.

As i expected, Blizzard does not give a complete fuck about vanilla, they just made all that shit to shut our voices down, and end of fucking story. Now do we have to expect that Nostalrius is going to open?

Because if you closed the server once, what is the hell point of opening it again, now that you are even compromised with blizzard? Why not opening it before going to speak with them? Wouldn't it have been a fastest and smoothest result?

This makes me think firstly that you are not opening it again (i don't know what honour your own core values means) but in second time that you made all of this so you could get a spot on blizzard entertainment company, not for the community etc, just for your own interest.

Realistically it means they both have an announcement to make and are waiting for the best time to do it. That would be AFTER Blizzcon as to not clog the pipes with Legacy when they want to focus on 7.2 and the future of Legion in general.

dude.. its quite clear brack said "we are still discussing the possibility", does it sound like after blizzcon announcement of legacy servers? they are freaking still discussing the possibility, its not even a project yet.

Even if blizzard will make a legacy server, it will be in 1-2 years from now best case scenario. So its really clear we can stope expecting playable legacy servers from Blizzard anytime soon. Max they may announce that they decided to implement it in the future. But for you to actually play it its 1-2 years minimum.

So forget about it already.


Now to op, i agree their behavior is very strange, like they didnt know what they were getting into opening the server. And all this cryptic messages they post is getting on my nerves.

You fail to see the big picture. Nost tried to push blizz to give us official legacy servers, and your logic/way of thinking is just absurd. They will probably open again soon, now that blizz have officially given us the finger.

Nostalrius have earned some respect from Blizzard.
They acted politely and shut down their server on first C&D demand.
They made Blizzard to actually recognize vanilla community and react to it.
They provided partial analysis of demand in legacy servers.
They shared their experiences in development.
These are good steps that made Blizzard to consider development of legacy servers.

BUT!

Mark Kern said that in a company of Blizzard size decisions are not taken quickly.

Blizzard always cared about their quality of product. They can't just give you their decision unless they are 100% sure that they can build product of their level of quality.
And they care about their reputation. They won't announce anything if they are not sure if they are capable of (and interested in) doing it.

To make a team that could start to develop "Modern Vanilla WoW" they either have to pull specialists from Legion in order to:
a) Do analysis on
a1) What to be done
a2) What resources they need to invest to do it
a3) How long it would take to do it
b) An then:
b1) Do development
b2) Teach a new team on how to do development

In either case they will lose resources they could spend on Legion.
Even basic (a1) analysis is a huge thing by itself.
I think that they can't afford to do this at current stage of development Legion as a product. It would be just unwise.

The funny thing - this is what Brack actually said:

You can't really blame them for this. How can you possibly know how long it takes to do such analysis? You can't say that BY THIS TIME they already should give us strict answer because you don't have experience they have and you don't know all the details they know.

And to guys, who post shit about retail on official forums (or anywhere else): stop acting like ungrateful spoiled kids.

The one thing I learned on these forums (also due to my own approach) is that the more borderline are the things that ones say the more its clear to me they are just dying to play vanilla again and choose to believe one thing or the other to deal with their own frustration.

I said CHOOSE because all the things we talk about here are based purely on speculations, cmon guys we don't have many facts along the way. We can only choose to believe or choose who to side with based on our previous experiences... I for one choose to side more with private scene community (read Nost atm) because blizzard failed to impress me with their expos.

But I can easily see how there are tons of people that got fucked over by countless private servers over the years, had huge ambitions to be server #1 or whatever and server closed before they got to do it or yea... whatever really it doesn't matter... is just to show the point.
