2nd Link Ctrl + F search "ABANDONED SOFTWARE—VIDEO GAMES"

Could this help private servers in any way? Found this following quote however, not sure exactly what it means but it has to do with WoW atleast:

"Proposed Class 23: This proposed class would allow circumvention of TPMs on lawfully acquired video games consisting of communication with a developer-operated server for the purpose of either authentication or to enable multiplayer matchmaking, where developer support for those server communications has ended. This exception would not apply to video games whose audiovisual content is primarily stored on the developer's server, such as massive multiplayer online role-playing games."

All creeds to the finder "Avila" on the CF forums.. just wanted to share this as i see the whole private server scene as one community.

This change has been campaigned for months now, it was started by archive/museum authorities in the US, in order to make it legal to have functioning multiplayer games stored permanently. It isn't anything new and it isn't relevant to vanilla WoW as Blizzard can argue that World of Warcraft still exists, just not in the exact same form as it used to.

Even if it was necessary they could use argument that game = game world = lore = both versions still got virtual world of azeroth, outland and major lore characters that inhabit it. There goes the argument. And gl explaining to non gamer jury/judge how different was the sense of achievement in those versions ;p lol:D

This has been covered before and unfortunately the corporation has a legitimate means to protect against it.
