Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

Dear fellows,

I can see a lot of you are pretty nervous with this huge announcement. I was also surprised and kind of disappointed. After a few hours, I think this could not have been better, let me show you.

Some of us do not to realize that a new fresh server would have been impossible : The Nostalrius staff identity is known by Blizzard IRL. Involving their persons would have been a terrible choice. So, what could they do to start the Vanilla dream again ?
Invest in another Vanilla server.

Which one would be the best ?
- First of all, a server NOT located in the US, in France, or any country reachable by Blizzard Wizard-Lawyer.
- A "old" server, with ancient Nostalrius staff inside.
- A server which shares the Nostalrius values.

Inducing the Nostalrius Staff into Elysium would totally boost it : We will surely get a new server inside, and a excellent quality server based on the Nostalrius core.

Tell me if you agree, or what could have been a better plan for you

I agree with the most part, I would just of liked to hear the reasons they chose Elysium over Crestfall. Elysium already has been perceived as an average server, whereas Crestfall has not had the chance to mess up their reputation yet.

Crestfall is building their own core. Nost's source code would be useless to them.

Agreed. Crestfall hyper train is completely derailed for me now.

Until Crestfall actually goes live, they are just like Corecraft. It is all hype at this point - although it sounds like they have their shit together, there isn't an actual live server yet. Average > unproven. I was kind of looking forward to Crestfall, but after this latest announcement it's a lot easier to go with Elysium/Nostalrius unless it proves to be a dud as far as maintenance/bug fixes/new content.

We technically got all three. Except I'm not sure where Elysium is located.

Most of the staff have moved to Elysium, and the reason Elysium is getting the database in the first place is because of its similar values to Nost.

We should all just be happy that the Vanilla WoW movement is winning, regardless of where we decide to play. The fact that Crestfall will most likely provide another high quality option (speculation, but you never know..) just boosts the private Vanilla WoW scene, reducing the need for Blizzard to ever provide anything.

Hell, I might end up playing on both!

Started a Warlock alt that will be used for raid summons and transmutes. Got him just out of Westfall and herbing/alch 125+ so I don't have to do the beginning struggles due to high pop. All before the character freeze.

Very excellent, indeed.

Let's hope they use the character DB from the last PVP rankings update on 4/6/2016 (got band of accuria that day before the ranking update)
